Questions

Frequently asked

Something else on your mind? Call the office - it is always the same number.

What is the tax rate for Proprietorship?

A proprietorship is taxed at the owner's individual slab rates. Under the new regime (the default), income up to ₹4 lakh is exempt, ₹4 lakh to ₹8 lakh is taxed at 5%, and so on, and a resident individual pays no tax on income up to ₹12 lakh because of the rebate. The old regime (₹2.5 lakh exempt) can still be chosen on conditions.

Can I file if I haven't maintained books?

Yes! Under the Presumptive Taxation Scheme (Section 44AD), if your turnover is less than ₹2 Crores (or ₹3 Crores for digital receipts), you can declare a flat 6% or 8% profit without maintaining detailed books.

When is a Tax Audit mandatory?

A Tax Audit by a CA is mandatory if your business turnover exceeds ₹1 Crore (₹10 Crores if 95% transactions are digital). It is also required if you declare profit lower than the presumptive limit (6%/8%).
