Frequently Asked Questions

It is an "Intimation" sent after preliminary processing of your return by CPC. It compares the income/tax declared by you vs. what the Department calculated. It may result in a tax demand, refund, or no demand.
Every genuine IT notice carries a DIN (Document Identification Number). You can verify it on the e-filing portal under "Authenticate Notice/Order". If there is no DIN, the notice is invalid.
If you miss filling mandatory columns or pay partial tax, the return becomes "Defective". You get 15 days to rectify the defect. If not fixed, the return is treated as invalid (not filed).
